Central Otago has extremes: hot summers, frosty autumns and strong summer sunshine. Bring layers, sunscreen, and a windproof jacket. We’ll give advice based on the season you’re riding.
The Otago Central Rail Trail is mostly open with little shade. Expect sun, wind, and wide skies. Carry water and sun protection, especially in summer.
